Happy Holidays!

What a year it has been! We can't believe it is already time to reign in the New Year! 2012 was a great year but we have a feeling 2013 will be even better!  We left off on our former blog in the summertime but a lot has happened since then.  We did not go to many shows this past summer because of the excessive heat, but our dogs were still heavy into their training.  We have two new youngsters in the Sanmann mix that we are thrilled to have as a part of our  team.  Brice was born April 16th, 2012 in NY state and is the son of our champion, Austin.  He is training for show and obedience competition.  He made his debut in Bloomsburg and went Reserve Winners Dog from the Puppy Class.  Whisper is our other Sanmann addition who was born at Sanmann on May 1st, 2012.  Her mother is our own Addie and her father is Will-Champion Kalm Seas to Have and to Hold.  She is training currently for show and rally.  In other show news,  a big congratulations to all our show handling attendees and their dogs who recently received their championship merits! We are proud of you all!  In other news, Sue recently judged a Golden Specialty and Flat Coated Retriver Specialy in Maryland.  We also attended some shows in Allentown this December where our very own Henrietta won Best Bred- By- Exhibitor Competition and was third in Sporting Group.  Austin went Grand Champ Select at the same show!  We are so proud of them both!  Aside from the shows we have been very busy here at the Kennel taking care of your lovely dogs as many of you vacationed at the Jersey Shore this past summer!  In speaking of the Jersey Shore, we would like to take  this  time to thank the Hilltown Township for recognizing us as a safe haven for resident's dogs and cats during Superstorm Sandy.  We are very grateful for the opportunity to serve our community  and hope that anyone that stayed with us during Sandy is safe and happy back in their homes!  We wish anyone affected by the disaster the best of luck in recovering and our thoughts and prayers are with you.  On one final note, we are thrilled with Sanmann's It's All About Me (MeMe) birth of four beautiful puppies in November.  Their father is Lucien, Champion Edgecombe's The So-Lucien!  Check below for some photos to go along with this blog and  thank you again for taking the time to keep up with us here at Sanmann Kennels!  Have a happy and blessed New Year!

Summertime at Sanmann!

Summer has finally arrived, and we here at Sanmann could not be more excited.  And our doggies could not be more excited either; from the lush green grass to run around in, to the cool waters of our creek that runs through our property, to the bright and sunshine filled days, our dogs are loving summertime!  In puppy news, Sanmann’s Abby had two little girls on February 9th, 2012 and both are doing splendidly in their new homes.  Addy and Meme had their babies in the first week of May and their beautiful pups are just beginning to open their eyes and walk around.  They are a cute bunch of joyful pups and we love every minute of taking care of them.  Meme had three boys and Addy had three boys and three girls all within the first week of May so we have quite the number of puppies here currently, but we love it.  Make sure to look out for photos of them that we will put up soon!  In show news, recently we traveled to Wilmington Kennel Show in Bear, Delaware where Sanmann’s Henrietta had a major win by taking home Winner’s Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex.  We are so proud of her and she is halfway through her championship!  We are continuing now to prepare for more shows by the end of the month.  Our own Emma is also keeping in tip top shape for the show ring and also to become a major competitor in obedience.  Eric and Emma have been training every day and so far, everything is going smoothly.  Needless to say, June, July, and August will be very busy between running the kennel, shows, and also relaxing by the pool!  In other news, if you have not stopped by Barnes and Noble, or websites like Amazon.com, find a copy of Show Dog: The Charmed Life and Trying Times of a Near-Perfect Purebred by Josh Dean today!  Dog fanciers can rejoice as this book follows an Australian Shepard, Jack, who first started out right here at Sanmann Kennels!  We are so proud of Jack and his owner Kimberly, who were one of our favorite students in Sue’s show handling class.  With reviews like “A wonderful, charming look at the sport of dogs and dog shows and an absolute must read for anyone looking to get involved.” (Pat Hastings, AKC Judge and author of Tricks of the Trade ) and “If you don’t know your toy group from your terriers, pick up this beguiling nonfiction account that follows Jack, a lovable, handsome Australian shepherd and an aspiring Best in Show.” (Entertainment Weekly) this summer read is surely not to disappoint.  As a parting word to anyone who is looking for one of our Sanmann pups to take home, we will have more litters very soon so please be patient; they are surely worth the wait!  To everyone who spends their vacations with us, please remember to make a reservation early so that you can guarantee yourself a spot here at your dogs home away from home!  Also to anyone who would like to schedule grooming appointments, please also book in advance so your pet can be guaranteed a nice new summer haircut!  We want to wish you all a happy, safe, and most importantly fun summer and check back soon for more updates!

'Tis the Season!

We wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy holiday season! For all those who are wondering, we will have puppies in 2012 and if you are interested, please call us and let us know. If you have already inquired about a puppy, great! We appreciate your patience with us as we breed, and help bring you quality golden retriever puppies. In other Sanmann news, we are ever so proud of our Emma who got her first points towards her championship at the Hatboro Kennel Club Dog Shows.
For those of you who will be dropping off your lovely dogs with us over the holiday season, please remember to keep in mind we need up to date paperwork (for us to keep, and serve as proof) on rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella, and Canine Influenza vaccinations that your dog has had. If your dog has not had these vaccinations, unfortunately they may not board at our kennel.
Again we wish you all a happy holiday season and we can't wait to see you!
We attached some summer photos taken by our step brother, Mike!

Nothing Like a Sanmann Kind of Summer!

If you are reading this then congratulations; you have managed to not pass out from all this excessive heat! Yes summer 2011 has packed quite the punch with these blisteringly hot summer days, but need not worry, all is calm, cool, and collected here at Sanmann (thanks to the AC's). Our Goldens are preparing for some late summer/early fall shows and we cant be more excited. Speaking of Goldens, Abby unfortunately did not bless us with a litter of beautiful pups, but don't worry, we are planning on breeding MeMe and Addie in September so for all you eager doggie-parents-to-be we will have puppies soon. For those that have inquired we appreciate your patience and also your interest, please continue to email us or even give us a phone call closer to September if you are truly interested in having a puppy. In other news, training classes have stopped for summer due to excessive heat and will not resume until September. Show handling classes will resume starting September 15th. If you have an questions feel free to call us at 215-257-7375. We here at Sanmann are loving seeing all our furry friends. Boarding and Grooming is going well and all the dogs are loving their new summer haircuts! If you haven't gotten your furry one's winter coat taken care of, what are you waiting for?! Our doors are always open, yet do give us a call and make a reservation for boarding or an appointment for grooming in advance! We wish you all a happy and safe summer! Stay cool, comfortable, and drink lots of water (that also applies to the dogs)!

Show News...

What a month February has been. From blustery winds and chilly days to the teasing warm weather here and there, we are most definitely excited for Spring here at Sanmann. Towards the end of February, Sue and her band of doggie friends traveled to Rockland County, New York to represent Sanmann proud at the Rockland County Kennel Club Dog Shows, and boy oh boy did they. Austin, Emma, Henrietta, and Little Chickie all represented themselves like true champions in the show ring, and some have the wins to prove it. Emma made her debut in the ring, did great, and got good looks by the judges. Little Chickie placed first and second in very competitive classes, way to go Little Chick! Henrietta was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners. She also won her first four point major towards her championship. Austin had true success as well. He went Best of Breed both days and placed fourth in the Sporting Group, and by doing that, he received a half of a point towards the Show Dog Hall of Fame and he also picked up eight more points towards his Grand Championship. We are so proud of our wonderful dogs and hope all of you are as well. Now that March is here, springtime is right around the corner and we can't wait!

Frosty February News...

Well, winter has officially arrived at Sanmann Kennels. The snow storms have made the humans tired of shoveling and plowing, but the Goldens are loving it. The Frenchies, not so much. Shawn, Sky and Hank have found wonderful warm places near the radiator! Mimi’s puppies are all with their new families and doing great. We are thinking of them house training their new arrivals in the snow and cold! Remember….lots of layers.
In the midst of this nasty weather, Austin ventured to Maryland to dog shows where he not only completed his breed championship but also was awarded his first points towards his Grand Championship. Way to go, Ch. Sanmann’s Two Step. Look for Austin in the Obedience and Rally Trials this summer. Congrats are also in order to Austin's father, Ch. Sanmann's Steppin' Out. Stepper is now an Oustanding Sire.
Speaking of training, Carol and Addie have been practicing Agility and Obedience this winter. Obedience Classes here at Sanmann begin again on March 1st- a sure harbinger of Spring. At the end of our 8 week session, we will host an AKC Canine Good Citizen test. This title is an official AKC designation and very nice for your dog to have. You can check out the requirements and the advantages of having the CGC on the AKC website at, www.akc.org. For anyone who is new to the obeidence process, classes are filling up for March 1st for any beginners. If you are interested, make sure you get your application in as soon as possible!
Show handling classes are ongoing every thursday night from 7:15pm to 8:30pm but will break during the months of July and August. A big congratulations to all show handling students who have earned titles and qualified to show at The Westminster Kennel Club.
