Sizzlin' Summer News
In the month of May our wonderful mother Abby delivered a litter of truly spectacular puppies. She delivered 7 healthy boys and 1 radiant little girl. We have decided to keep the little girl and have named her Carly. She is doing splendid and is a fantastic edition to the kennel. We wish all the new Sanmann families with new little pups nothing but best wishes and success as they strive to raise wonderful golden retrievers.
In other Sanmann golden news, a big shout out goes to Diane and Ed Coyle for allowing
Shelby to produce the bundle of joy that is Brooke. She is a wonderful pup that truly resembles in mind, body and spirit her parents: Shelby and Stepper. She is growing into a beautiful young dog and we hope she continues to grow into a healthy, jovial dog. Justin and Sadie have developed a taste for the sweet life and have made the decision to be spoiled and waited on rather than compete as show dogs! The only "jobs" these two consider are the occasional recreational walk in the park, a good pet on the sofa, and the ever-so relaxing ability to chill poolside. Yet don't count Chickie out of the show-handling fight! She continues to push through and step up to the plate and we are so excited to begin showing her in August. Our queen of the french bulldogs herself, Meadow, has been living the sweet life in her new home with Kim and Bill ever since the 22nd of May. We wish them best wishes as they spoil her rotten!
For all those who were unable to obtain a little bundle of joy that is a Sanmann golden, have no fear! We bred Stepper to DeeDee at the end of June and expect to have a wonderful, healthy, and gorgeous litter of pups ready around the end of August. Stepper and Austin have also lent their services to several other breeders so we wish best of luck to anyone in search of a golden retriever puppy. We are confident in your search that you will find that special pup for you!
In a bit of unfortunate news, one of our oldest "mothers," Ellie, was sadly put down on July 5th of 2010. She lived an incredible life and truly experienced all their is to experience in life when you're a canine. We know she is looking down on us and has spread her blessings and light over the kennel.
For those who are inquiring, all training classes have been suspended due to the excessive heat we have been experiencing. Show handling is expected to resume on September 2nd of 2010 and Obedience classes are expected to resume on September 7th of 2010. Feel free to check our blog sometime in August for schedules. We hope to see you and your fabulous dogs ready and excited to resume with handling!
Our staff has been busy as well this summer in the realm of travel. Two of our workers have traveled to places well, far from the kennel lets just say! Kurt had a wonderful trip to France and Kristin also had an amazing time at Costa Rica! Carols hard work also paid off. She came home with an assortment of ribbons from the prestigious Devon Horse show. A congrats goes out to her, most definitely!
Until we blog again, everyone have a happy and safe rest of the summer and try not to pass out from all this heat!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Wow! Did it snow here at Sanmann! All of the dogs love to play in it, even the Frenchies and Norwich. The snow did interfere with our plans to show Henrietta, Sky and Shawn at Boardwalk Kennel Club in Wildwood. We were pleased with our decision to stay home when we found out that there was no electricity, heat or water at the show. We are looking forward to April and plan to be out and about almost every weekend. We will post the show schedule when we finalize our plans.
Don’t forget to sign up for Obedience Class with Frank Nelson. The new Beginners Class starts on March 2nd. What a great way to give the dogs a change of scenery and get ready for long walks in the nice weather. Show Handling continues on Thursday nights from 7:15 to 8:30. The students, both canine and human are doing great and have some nice wins to their credit—even in the middle of winter! Hopefully, we’ll have more to talk next month—when we all get dug out. Pitchers and catchers report in just eight days. Spring is right around the corner.

January Update
It’s hard to believe that the holidays are behind us! Christmas and New Years were busy here at Sanmann. Abby, Polly and Bella watched patiently as their puppies set off to their new homes. Perhaps they were a bit relieved, but we are sure that they will miss their broods. All the puppies have settled into their new routines and are looking forward to playing in the snow and sleeping by the fireplaces in their forever homes. Spring will come soon enough!
Speaking of warmer days, as you plan vacations and holidays away, please contact us early to make reservations. The holiday weekends are already starting to fill up, believe it or not! And remember that we now require your dog to have the canine influenza vaccine before visiting Camp Sanmann. Please contact your veterinarian for more information about the vaccine.
After a sort break during the coldest winter months, Obedience Classes with Frank Nelson will resume on Tuesday, March 2nd. The Beginners Class runs for eight weeks from 7-8 pm. The fee is $95. An application can be downloaded right from our website. Frank makes obedience fun for both dog and handler- a perfect cure for cabin fever! Sue’s Show handling Class is ongoing at 7:15pm on Thursday evenings. Come out and get your puppy ready for the spring shows – and find out if any or your classmates are going to Westminster!
A special welcome to a new member of our Grooming Team, Sara Garthly. Sara shows her Kerry Blue Terrier and Rottweiler in both conformation and obedience. She is experienced in grooming all breeds. How about a “make over” to start 2010? Call for an appointment.
What are the Sanmann Goldens, Frenchies and Norwich up to? They are getting in shape for the Spring Shows. Look for Shawn and Sky in the Frenchie ring starting with Boardwalk Kennel Club on February 7th. Goldens Austin and Addie will be out and about too along with little sister Henny, making her debut in the puppy class. Floppy, aka Norwich Terrier, Sanmann’s Super Nova, RN is determined to get his CD this summer! Don’t forget rally! We’ll be in the rally rings too. When the Show Schedule is firmed up, we will post it on the Blog, so that you can stop by and meet the dogs- and us too!
Think Spring!

Thanksgiving Update
Dog Shows
Congratulations to Sanmann's Roch of Love, Sky, and Mary Ann Messmer for winning big at the French Bulldog Club of America National Specialty last month. Sky won 3rd Place in sweepstakes and 2nd Place in the show, competing in the 12-18 month bitch class. Way to go!
Another congratulations to Sanmann's Two Step "Austin" and Sue Petermann for going Best of Winners at the Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Club on November 12th! Austin is looking great and getting ready for the upcoming shows.
Look for Sanmann Frenchies at the Chambersburg show on December 5th!
Puppies
Congratulations to Abby, Polly, and Bella on becoming new moms! We are fortunate to have some beautiful puppies and are looking forward to watching them grow up.
Training
We will be starting a new beginner's obedience course in January, start date T.B.D. If you are interested, please call Eric at the kennel and we will keep you updated on this. Show handling will be held continuously throughout the rest of the year, with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. We look forward to seeing everyone come out and train with us.
That's all for now. Have a happy Thanksgiving and look forward to our Christmas update coming soon!
